The "My Account" page in the Library Catalogue allows you to check the status of any current loans or holds, and to renew your books remotely. You must enter your student ID number to access your account. If you have trouble with your login, please visit or call the Reference Desk (6D, 514-931-8731 ext. 1731).
Fines are generated for overdue items. Borrowing privileges are automatically suspended when a borrower has
either 4 overdue items
or fines of $5.00 or more. The overdue items must be returned, and the fines paid in full, to reactivate your borrowing privileges. Fines may be paid with debit or credit cards. At the end of each semester, students who owe fines and/or have unreturned library materials will be placed on
default with the College.
- Registered students, with fines under $5.00, may borrow a laptop.
- New users must sign a registration and liability form to receive a laptop.
- Students must present a valid I.D. card each time a laptop is borrowed. This I.D. card must belong to the borrower, and not to a friend or other student.
- Laptops may be borrowed for 3 hours, for use in the library only. Only one laptop may be borrowed per student, and time cannot be extended.
- Laptops must be returned in person to the Circulation Desk, within three hours of checkout.
- Due times are established at the time of loan.
- A fine $10 per hour will be applied if a laptop is returned past the time due.
- Never leave the laptop unattended! If a laptop is stolen or damaged, you are responsible for the full cost of replacement or repair, and your library borrowing privileges will be suspended.
- No personal software or programs may be loaded onto the laptops.
- Do not attempt to plug in a laptop with your own power adaptor as this will damage the battery and the laptop.
Photocopiers are located on the 5th Floor, under the stairs. The machines function on a debit card system, and will accept a Dawson ID card or a cash card (cash cards can be purchased in the 2C wing, just outside the print shop).
Computers are located on the 6th Floor and are intended for research and coursework only. Computer games, personal email, Facebook and other social networking activities are not allowed. Students may also use the college computer labs located throughout the building (2C.7, 2H.14, most of 2F wing, 5B.1 and 5B.5) to work on course-related assignments.
Group study areas are spread throughout the 6th Floor. These spaces are available on a "first come first served" basis and cannot be reserved.
No food or drink is permitted in the library (except for water).
